Derek Mitchell is an experienced certified project manager and currently seeking new career opportunities. His most recent experience includes three years as an IT Project Manager with ABB, Enterprise Software which specializes in developing applications for the power, mining and transportation industries. During his time with ABB, Derek successfully managed a variety of small to large scale projects such as SAP, Salesforce, E-Commerce and Infrastructure & Security initiatives. Prior to ABB, he worked G3ict (Global Initiative for Inclusive Information & Communication Technologies) a non-profit launched by the United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development for the purpose of raising awareness and advocating for people with disabilities. Derek assisted the organization in planning and facilitating its annual mobile technology summit as well as developing a white paper focused on building a business case for technology companies to better serve the disabled consumer market.
Derek's professional achievements are built on his strong educational foundation. He graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in 2009. Most recently Derek earned an MBA from Georgia State University in 2012. As a student in the global MBA program, Derek studied at the Sorbonne Graduate Business School in Paris and COPPEAD School of Business in Rio de Janeiro, also earning degrees from both institutions.
In his personal life, Derek's ambition carries over from his professional and educational pursuits. He is a dedicated member of several volunteer organizations including Toastmasters, Kiwanis, and The National Stuttering Association. As a Toastmaster Derek has held several officer roles, earned the Advanced Communicator award, achieved Triple Crown status and competed in several speech contests winning 3rd place at the 2015 District Humorous Contest. His most recent passion is creating content for YouTube, professional speaking and working on his first book focused on overcoming fear to achieve personal goals.
